About the Author (aka Josh, aka quixado, aka Me)
If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m Josh Babetski. You can generally find me online using the handle “quixado,” which is a shortening of QUIXotic BravADO, the name of this site and my state of mind at times.
I founded my first company, TaxiCafe Media, in 1998 as a web development shop. It evolved into a mission of connecting people and interests online _ building a more social web before the term “social networking” rocketed up the buzzword charts.
I’m now a co-founder of Collective Detective, an organization which specializes in marketing via word of mouth, viral communications, blogging, social networking, and online entertainment such as online casual games and scavenger hunts. We launched the rapidly growing Culture Captioning in 2005 and we’re currently working on Collectivus, a new project you will learn more about in the coming months.
I also lead a dual-life as the first Evangelist for MapQuest, Inc. I am primarily responsible for outreach and engagement of developers and promotion of the MapQuest Platform. I collaborate with Marketing on external and internal communication and messaging and specialize in competitive and trend analysis and also assist in coordinating IP and Patent issues and providing technical consultation. Previously, I oversaw client-side development on MapQuest.com.
When not speaking at conferences or developing the “next big thing” for CD, I try to travel, read, keep up on popular culture, mountain bike, blow stuff up on my Xbox 360, and accidently smash into things with the Wiimote while playing Nintendo Wii.
I live in the cow country of Central Pennsylvania with my lovely girlfriend Traci and her stupid dog.
